Why is it the some of the most ardent supporters of the war in Iraq are the very men and women who have actually been and fought there?

With this question in mind I thought about starting this website. Many of you have come to known me from my previous website www.boredsoldier.blogspot.com, but for those of you who are visiting me for the first time welcome.

My name is T.F. Boggs and I am a sergeant in the United States Army Reseßrves and am currently in the States after finishing up my second yearlong tour in Iraq last November. Throughout my second tour I kept a blog at www.boredsoldier.blogspot.com and came to realize the need for the American public to hear the truth about what is really going on in Iraq. Ever since I returned home I have been reminded of this fact day in and day out as I encounter people from both sides of the political spectrum who don’t have the slightest clue what is really going on in the Middle East. As I try to explain to them why they don’t need to be entirely discouraged about the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan, I wish there was some place I could point them to where they could find out what is really going on. We all know (at least I hope) that it is near impossible to glean the truth from the MSM when it comes to reporting on Iraq and Afghanistan. Whether this is the fault of the reporters or of the higher ups doesn’t really concern me. What does concern me is that a biased media is misleading the world at large. As a result people form their opinions about America and its military based off of the opinions of those who aren’t qualified to discuss military matters.

I don’t pretend to have all the answers, or even be anywhere near the best source for news about the war, but I am a piece of the puzzle. My intentions with this website are to share my opinions about the war (and all things related), and point people in the right direction to where they can find other sources that will give them a better understanding of what exactly is going on in the Middle East. Along the way I am sure I’ll deviate from my original intentions but that is to be expected.

The blog is titled Vox Veterana, which as you probably already know is Latin for ‘The Voice of Veterans’ or ‘The Veteran Voice.’ My hope is to have several other GWOT (Global War On Terrorism) veterans contribute from time to time so people can get a variety of viewpoints. The purpose is not to exclude non-VFWs, but to give veterans a forum where their voices can be heard. I know we have a lot to say and since the MSM doesn’t want to hear from us we’ll have to make our impact with the New Media.

As of now the contributors to this site are myself, and Sig of http://www.sigspace.net/blog. We’ll see if we can get some other vets to contribute as well in the future, but for the time being you will just have to deal with us. So tell you family, friends, and any one else who may have questions about the military and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in general. Feel free to contact either of us with any questions you may have.
